Salah: The Most Powerful Connection to God!

Prayer (Al- Salah) is the second pillar of Islam that comes just after Al- Shahadah , and it’s the first thing we will be asked about on the day of resurrection , if we noticed when Al- Salah was first imposed we will find that it’s the only duty that arrived from Allah to Prophet Muhammad ,peace be upon him, directly without an intermediary, that tells us how important and superior Al- Salah is.

At the beginning Allah told Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, that we should pray 50 times daily , then it became 5 times only as a type of mitigation.

Al-Salah is imposed on all Muslims except women in menstruation and puerperal period, mentally retarded people and children who didn’t reach puberty yet.

May you think that it’s a hard obligation, why does Allah want us to pray five times daily? Why does He want us to pray basically?!

If we think about the nature of prayer we will find the answer, we will find that the obligation of Al-Salah is a gift and mercy, Allah who created us knows what we need and how we can be fixed.

The scientific revolution in the field of Neurology proved that a huge obvious change appears in brain activity after doing this glorious worship. The activity in the area responsible for conscious thinking and problem solving clearly decreased, also the activity of the area causing anxiety decreased, contrary the areas of the brain responsible for compassion, mercy and feeling safe were active , that’s exactly why we pray, we do this to feel safe, get rid of stress, anxiety and fears, to ask for help and positive energy which help us to complete our day, Allah sais : ( And seek help in patience and prayer. For it is heavy, except to the humble) [Al Baqarah – 45]

Researches have also proved that Ablution helps to get rid of harmful electric charges and to purify us, Allah Sais: (Believers, when you rise to pray wash your faces and your hands as far as the elbow, and wipe your heads and (wash) your feet to the ankle. If you are in a state of impurity, cleanse yourselves. But if you are sick or traveling, or, if when you have just relieved yourselves or had intercourse with women and you cannot find water, touch the clean surface of the earth and rub your hands and faces with it. Allah does not wish to burden you, He seeks only to purify you and to complete His Favor to you in order that you may thank). [ Al Ma’ida -6]

Allah tells us that Ablution is for our good and purity, and Al – Salah isn’t just movements and some words, it’s a heart worship makes our life better.

Because this worship is glorious and it connects us with Allah, we don’t pray only the five obligatory prayers but also we pray to thank God for all great things, we pray in the hard times to ask for help, there are also other types of prayers such as Eid prayer, Sunnah prayers, Nafl prayers and others.
